MATCH REPORT | Valencia CF defeat Eldense to advance to Copa Del Rey Round of 16 (0-2)
Sergi C. Tenés and Diego López score the goals for Valencia CF
Valencia CF beat CD Eldense 0-2 in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey at the Nuevo Pepico Amat, advancing through goals from Sergi Canós and Diego López. The draw for the next round will be held on Wednesday.
Hugo Duro began the game with a shot from outside the area in the seventh minute, and the opening goal was not long in coming. Diego López, from the right, sent the ball into the middle on the edge of the area, and Canós put his shot into the top corner.
Looking for their first win under new coach Carlos Corberán, they continued to search for goals with an attacking strategy against their Segunda División opponents.
For CD Eldense, Diego Collado appeared on the counter from the right wing, but his shot went wide of goal. Another chance came past the half hour, when a close range effort from Juanto Ortuño and a scramble in the box provided danger.
Pepelu shot wide from outside the box, and then Diego López doubled the lead. Canós returned the favour for the earlier assist, and his ball was met on the left for the finish.
Umar Sadiq came on to make his debut, alongside Enzo Barrenechea and André Almeida.
On the hour, André Almeida set up Diego López, who tried to chip the goalkeeper but could not quite get the required lift. Sadiq then tried his luck, as did Almeida himself -with his goal disallowed for offside.
The game ended 0-2 and Valencia CF advance to the next round of the Copa del Rey. Before then, they play in LALIGA EA Sports on Saturday night against Sevilla FC.
